Mahjong is played with a set of decorated tiles arranged in a layout. The aim is to remove tiles by matching them in identical pairs.
A tile can be selected only when it is 'free' — not covered by another tile and open on its left or right edge. Matching free pairs removes them and frees the tiles beneath.
Plan ahead so you do not strand tiles you need; clearing the whole layout wins the round.
